Hello,I have this model and believe the battery is in need of replacement. How do I go about it. Also when I boot the system it comes up SPD failuer? ANy help will be greatly appreciated.

Check out some of these sites to find a replacement battery (if the computer is out of warranty- if it isn't, contact Compaq support):

In regard to the SPD failure, I suspect that it has something to do with the battery being bad.
