I have a compaq 615 laptop but after placing a new hard drive (old one crashed) i need to reinstall [strike]os [/strike] OS [Windows 7]. I don't have a recovery disk. can i download these?-

Try this link and see if you can download the version of Windows you had:

Since HP acquired Compaq years ago, they are the ones to seek help from if you don't have Windows discs laying around. If it can't be downloaded and burned on to a disc using a second computer then make sure you still have some kind of identification on the Laptop that HP can use to help you. A Microsoft Windows certified sticker or at the bare minimum a 'service tag' sticker or something. I say that because now a days HP doesn't include a Microsoft Windows certified sticker for 'security purposes'. Either way, they might be able to send you recovery discs.
