Computer screen doesn't receive signal on start up

Last night my computer froze, so I shut it off, but I had to leave before I turned it back on. The next day when I turned it on everything turned on except the screen. It's says there is no signal received. I just built this computer, and it has a brand new graphics card that I just put in the other day. I don't know if it's related but I've been experiencing constant fps drop while gaming and everything seems to run a little bit slower/ not optimally. Even programs like Microsoft word seem to have problems running by randomly freezing.

Have you tried removing the graphics card and booting with on board graphics? And on the note of 'slow operation', did you ensure to install the all of the motherboard, gpu etc uptodate drivers correctly?

I don't have any on board graphics for my build, and yes I made sure all of the updates were installed.
