My laptops has had some problems recently ever since I reset it. It has windows 8, going to get 8.1 but I needed to install all the updates first. One day I turned off my laptop for updates. I turned it back on to see it configuring windows as normal. It got to 98% and then said failed to configure windows reverting changes. It has done this about 5 times now and starts whenever I press the power button. Is there anyway to fix this because I can no longer use my laptop.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may resolve the issue.
- If the laptop is booted into the normal screen, open Task Manager then go to Startup tab and disable all the startup items then reinstall all the necessary updates and reboot the laptop.
- If that doesn't work please do try some other troubleshooting steps detailed here in Microsoft support site.

- Do run the automatic "Fix it" but look for Windows 8.
