Connecting computer to blu ray player (to watch computer in tv)

I've been trying to get my computer in my tv through my soundsystem (Sony blu ray BDV N890W) so that I can watch a live event that I can only watch online. I've been using a HDMI cable but I can't get it to work. Works great when I hook it straight to my tv, but then the sound's not to great Is there any trick to this, or is it just not possible?

Your Sony has an optical audio input. If your computer has an optical output, that is the best option. If your computer doesn't have an optical output, then you can get a device that you plug your HDMI into and another HDMI to the TV which will strip the audio out and make it available on optical cable.
