connecting DVD player to Philips Smart TV

Is it possible to connect a DVD player with traditional 3 color (YELLOW/RED/WHITE) cables to a Philips Smart TV with the new 9DIGITIAL) color coded back plugs..BLUE/GREEN etc? Or am I just better off buying a new DVD player with the new DIGITAL colors or HDMI cable connections?

You would have to buy an adapter but it would make more sense to just get a new player. Get a bluray if it is in your budget.

If your DVD player only has the composite outputs, I'd replace it. The video quality out of those is pretty bad for use with a new HD TV. A converter and cables can cost more than a newer DVD player or a BluRay, which you can find used for $30-40.
