Connecting Laptop to tablet

I wanted to connect my tablet to my laptop so I could use one to have the other's screen projected onto it (like an extra monitor). However, both HDMI connections are "output". Any way around this? thanks

what operating system on tablet as might be able to use "remote access" that is used in windows?
