Solved! Connecting laptop to TV via VGA?

I want to connect my laptop to my TV but the only port my laptop has is VGA. My HDTV does not have a VGA port; it has component ports, S-Video port, and an HDMI port. I tried using a VGA to component wire but that did not work. What should I do to get my laptop desktop onto the TV screen?

you need a VGA to component converter,
or VGA to HDMI converter or VGA to S converter
All of which can be purchased easily.
