Hi,
I have and old tv Dicksmith GE6835 49”.I bought sony soundbar HT-MT300. The soundbar only has an optical connection but my tv does not have one. Do I need a Converter or decoder?

Solution
Specs on that soundbar says it has an analog audio input too,
If the TV has a headphone jack or analog audio output then use that to make the connection. You only need the correct cable.
If the TV has a coaxial digital audio output then you can use an active coax to optical audio converter.
Check the TV manual on how to use the digital audio output. You may have to turn it on, turn the TV speakers off, and change the audio output type in the TV menu to get it working.
