connecting polk t15 to LG6090

I want to install a pair of Polk t15 to the optical, digital, audio output on my LG6090 for a little better sound. I need an inexpensive amplifier 20 watts(2) that will accept the cable.
What would be a inexpensive amplfier or would an Analog Audio Converter work

You can't use just a DAC because the speakers need an amplifier too

or a used or low priced surround sound receiver would be fine. Surround sound receivers without HDMI inputs are pretty cheap used.
You need something with it's own remote volume control since the output of the TV is fixed in level.
