Connecting via hdmi

I have tried all the suggestions on this page.
I can't get it to work! The strange part is that it was working fine a few months ago. I hadn't tried to connect for awhile, tried tonight and can't get it to recognize. Both are set to correct input. Get the message no signal.
Whenever I try to display on external screen, computer goes black and I cannot get it back.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry, first time ever asking a question like this. Lenovo yoga 2 laptop trying to connect to a Panasonic smart tv via hdmi cable.

Most laptops auto detect the presence of an external monitor. Some you have to switch. What do you have to do on yours?

I have only tried one other time and it auto detected and I had no problem.
This time it hasn't.

Maybe you change whether it auto detects or not.

Guy here - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/windows-81-doesnt-recognize-external-monitor/daf55e9c-acf5-4425-8026-a86a23a3ccec - got it to work by re-installing the intel graphics drivers -
"I got it to work, four more driver installs later, and two of them were re-installs. I must have breezed past the advice that said to UN-install, and then RE-install the video drivers. Also, the video driver that came as a result of an auto-detect wasn't right. The winning step was to uninstall the re-install the Intel video driver for 64 bit Windows. Seems obvious, and I'd had the driver, but the right combination of un/re-installs was necessary."
