Hi!

Okay, so I have a PS4 Pro, a Samsung UN55JU6500, and an older Pioneer VSX-1018AH.

I want 4K, 60hz, full HDR on the TV and 7.1 surround for the receiver. The TV has an ARC out but I can't get the receiver to make any sound, I don't think it has ARC, but I am getting control of it with the Samsung remote. It has optical out that works, but that's only 5.1.

What is the cheapest and easiest way to get the visuals I want and 7.1 audio? I wondered if I got an HDMI switch to put between the ARC out of the TV and the receiver if it would trick the receiver into playing it as a full audio signal?

Thanks in advance!

Solution
If you use an HDMI audio extractor on the PS4 it might do 7.1 out of the optical but it certainly won't do lossless audio like Dolby TrueHD which can only be through HDMI.
One of these MIGHT work.

Connect the PS4 to the input and connect one HDMI output to the TV for video and the other to the receiver for audio.
Leave the optical connection from the TV for other sources.
