CPU replace query

I bought Toshiba Satellite A300-1EC in 2009 from UAE.
About 2years back in India, in a shop My processor and RAM was replaced in my absence.
Since then my Laptop is working very slow.
I need to know possible solutions to it.Can i Replace the processor ? If yes what all processors are compatible ?

What processor do you have at the moment? You should be able to put an intel core 2 duo t990. That would definitely speed up your laptop.

Earlier was intel centrino 2.2 and was replaced by celeron 2.2;
Ram 2gb replaced by samsung 2gb.

Earlier type : Intel® Centrino® processor technology featuring Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T5750, Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG network connection and Intel® GM965 Express chipset

Replaced:Intel(R) celeron(R) CPU 560 @ 2.13GHz

Now all i need to know is What all processors can be supported in my laptop....Socket 479 mPGA
I may want to upgrade to i3 at least.

Have the shop replace the CPU with the proper one, they swapped in for a slower CPU. Did you re-install Windows? If not, do so and install new drivers from Toshiba.

You can't install any "i" series CPUs in that laptop.

Laptops are not really made to take faster chips due to heat issues, you may not want to go any higher than the old CPU it had.

I guess The shop replacd the CPU with the proper one, they sure did swapped in for a slower CPU.

Ok got it...and yes i did re install wondows 7 after format.HD movies,videos on utube,lags a lot.even the ide's for programming runs slow.its really frustrating.

I find my old processor in ebay20$, guess i vil buy it soon.
