CPU throttling or is it just dying?

So I know my fx 6350 is an old CPU now but I don't really have the funds for an upgrade. In games like overwatch and rocket league I get significantly worse FPS than what I used to so was wondering what this might be. I've used malware bytes to clean my PC and it did not change anything.

Is the cooler clean and the fan working? What temps are you getting? When was the last time you changed the Thermal Interface Material - TIM or thermal paste?

Have you checked to see what temps you are getting on the cpu during gaming? It would probably be wise to blow out the cpu cooler and clean and reapply new thermal paste as well.

The cooler is pretty dusty but my temps aren't bad :/ I'm really not sure what to do

clean the cooler first off. a clean cooler is a working cooler.

this can give you an idea - a rough idea - as to the performance of your chip and how it compares with others of the same make and model.
if the results show the performance is far below what it should be it can be an indication of diminishing performance.
