Hey everyone!
My asus k53sc has been showing crazy temps, ~80c idle (cpu & mobo), ~70 idle (gpu). As far as I know, 80c idle is even hotter than it should be under load. Under load it hits 99c and won't go higher (doesn't even shut down like it should!). I've replaced the thermal paste with some arctic silver 5, cleaned EVERYTHING, tried a different charger & battery and it still shows these temps. Here are my specs if needed:

Laptop: Asus K53SC-SX404V
GPU: Nvidia GT520MX
CPU: Intel Core I5-2430m @2.40ghz
Storage: 750gb 5400rpm hdd
RAM: 8gb ddr3
OS: WIndows 7 Pro

My parents don't even know what windows version they are running... so they think 200c is normal, I wish it was like that! They won't believe anything above 75c under load / above 50c idle is abnormal :S

Some good and bad news... the good news is that I've found a way to lower the temps... the bad news is that it will lower the performance... here's what I did:

1. Go to the power options
2. Click change plan settings on the active plan
3. Click change advanced power options
4. Double click processor power management
5. Click on maximum processor state
6. Set the 100% to 80%

The idle temps dropped from 85-90c to 65-70c

well, mobo may need replacing for full performance. if you do that you know, you really need to get cpu, ram and m.2 ssd.... lol kidding of course, but get a mobo for your kind of cpu unless you want to full upgrade.

But it's no option with a low budget, I can now scan with occt because Iowered the temps by lowering the performance, so I will try that

With 150 euro I won't be able to buy something decent (I can get an old pc and put a gt 1030 in there... but it's not perfect), but if I ask for money for my birthday & sell this laptop I already have 300 euro, but with pocket money (not sure what it's called in english) I have 450 euro total so that should be enough to get something decent
