Um. Nowhere in this did it say anything about putting people into vegetative states. In fact, it says just the opposite: piezoelectric devices require us to move in order to charge.

there is nothing special about any of this. piezoelectric material is old hat and generates 4 fifths of @#$@ all energy. as for thermal, either peltier or miniature sterling engines both of which work on a temperature difference but again will generate nothing useful. A small hydrogen fuel cell is the clear winner and any investment in hydrogen fuel cell tech benefits alot more than just the soldiers.
