data transfer problem in Samsung galaxy y

when i connect my cellphone to da p.c. via data cable it do not give da opt of "mass storage" or "media transfer".. it directly starts charging.. hence i m unable to transfer my data from cell to p.c..!
suggestions plz??

there is a setting (not sure though, cant remember), you should enable usb debugging (i think), then when you plug it in make sure the phone is not locked.

the usb debugging opt does not work and the cell is still in the same position..:/
