Data transfer to server

what would be the best way to transfer old data to the server?

Where is your old data stored? If it's on a network drive, just map to it, and transfer.

most of it is stored on line, would it be easyer to just load the back image to the server file?

What is saved? Is it a snapshot or individual files backed up?

snapshot, but would that be able to be placed in a file ?

You should be able to just restore that snapshot to the server. My experience with servers and databases is limited though. Someone else with more experience in this area may be able to confirm this or not.
