First I am really happy to find a Foxpro database utility for the
PocketPC... it's been way too long.

However, potential purchaser's should note that the price is not
_really_ $14.99 as listed on the download page, but actually $19.98 (33%
above the listed price) due to a mandatory $4.99 "download service charge"

That said, I've already tested the trial, purchased and downloaded the
full version, but the above has me very much wary of the vendor.

FoxPro people out there should note that not only does it support Fox2.6
files, including memo files, it also supports FoxPro indexes, which is huge.

US$ 14.99, maybe you should talk to Pylin...

For everyone's information, http/www.pylin.com responded to the
mandatory charge issue and has both taken steps to see that it be
presented as an option rather than mandatory and has credited the charge
back to my card.

I continue to stand by my testing that this is an excellent tool for
anyone who works with FoxPro or other xBase data files.

It's not mandatory, but often is [x]'ed and it's easy to miss
unchecking it. It's up to the seller to have this checked as
the default, or to leave it unchecked. Since the setup defaults
to having it checked, the "e-seller" has to uncheck it, so if
he wasn't paying attention, well, you saw the result. As for
the service, and it is, what it does is let you download that
app for up to 1 year after your purchase, in case of loss, or
whatever. For a ten-buck product it doesn't make too much sense,
but if it were say $200, it would be, since the original seller
could be out of business, in Tahiti, or maybe Iraq.

Well, is this Pocket xBase an environment
to write & compile & run FoxPro code, over
than reading writing to DBF files, or is
it just a DBF viewer/browser?

It appears to be a data access tool only... but it's something that I
have had the need for since 2000.

While that is often the case, in this one it was not... I spent about 10
minutes looking for an "uncheck" option including stopping the checkout
process and coming back in clean.

This was confirmed by pylin and has been corrected with the option to
purchase esellerate's "purchase protection" moved out of the checkout
total and it is now presented as an optional purchase option... i.e.
pylin took immediate action to correct a problem.

I checked, and this is what you have to do:

First, if the seller doesn't uncheck this in his setup,
it's added to your cart automatically. So, that's why
it was there w/o you doing anything to get it. However,
it is added to the cart just like any other item, so you
have the option to "remove" it, just like any other item.

I'm looking at it now. If I check the [x] (box in the
"Remove" column) and press "Update Cart" ... the eDS
thing is gone -- no trace of it.

Now I go back and remove this from the setup, and, as
it was, the eDS thing is now and option to add; it's
not already added (I don't like opt-outs, either).

If you want to know what I think happened, you tried
to change the quantity, but you can't. For the eDS
thing it's always "1". You have to [x] the remove
box and update the cart.

i run lotus works for msdos ontop of pocket dos on my ppc, and i can even
print reciepts using a serial printer connected to the bottom of my ipaq
3950.

old fashioned but very usefull

While this has now been fixed, when this started...

there was no [x] "remove" check box on the line with the addon

There was one on the product line, but toggling that did nothing to
allow the removal of the addon, it simply required the restarting of the
process.
