Hi,

I have purchased a deIl inspiron i5 7537, it has windows 8 pre installed on it.

This is the first time I have i have bought a laptop with os pre-installed.

They don't have provided windows 8 DVD. I have to use "Dell recovery and Backup" utility. That is fine!

My need is to installed Linux along-with windows 8, so I have created 2 more partitions.

Now If I use this recovery, then the entire hard disk will be deleted and restored back to factory.

Which I don't want, I want that If I have re-install windows 8 then only the C (windows os partition) get delete.

I'm not getting way to achieve the same?

More over I have big doubt, if I format by entire hard disk and then use install windows 7 will the BIOS will not be affect and everything will just be ok or not??

Thanks

Yea the System Recovery will erase everything on the hard drive. You could reinstall with windows 7. if its a Dell windows 7 Install disk you don't have to worry about a CD key as it will detect the service tag number on it and wont be an issue.
