Deciding on a good laptop

Hello, I was looking at the Asus N56VZ and the Asus G55VW and they seem to be almost identical other than the N56VZ is about 300 dollars cheaper and the G55VW is a gaming laptop. Can anyone help me decide on this or any other great laptop around $1000 that would be good for gaming (like skyrim on max settings) and college life (notes, powerpoints, etc.).

The Lenovo Y500 is quite a bit better for $150 less.

Thanks I didn't even think about the lenovo y500 because it sounded like it was alot more in price. It definitely will be one to look at as i decide on a laptop.

The sale on that one is outstanding right now. You get the SSD, 1080 screen, and brand new GT 750m graphics. It also has the Ultrabay which lets you add a second 750m in SLI if you want down the road.
