I can imagine that all our old email and searches that we thought that were long gone are sitting some ware even after more than a decade has since passed.

they could fend off lawyers for years, big pay raises, get new servers to store even more potential blackmail for future profits. This exploiting dumb people on the internet really just fuels itself.
