Just got an Inspiron, and need tips on using the CD-ROM/DVD drive.
I'm used to drives with a simple tray. You lay the disc in and
the machine plays it. This one has a spindle in the center. You put
the CD on the spindle like an LP record on a turntable. The trouble
is, CDs must to be pressed/forced down on the spindle in order to put
them in place on the tray.
It seems like I'm exerting force on a rather delicate tray -- I
support it with the other hand when inserting a disc, of course. And
removing a disc seems even more awkward. The disc flexes, and it feels
like I'm exerting unnecessary pressure to get a simple job done.
Is there a release button, or some other mechanism, that makes this
procedure easier. I'm afraid that by forcing my discs into the tray,
I'm doing damage to both the machine and the discs.
Thanks,
Paul
