I was using my laptop when a cup of coffee spilt on the table (children) and went over the laptop too. It turned off after a few seconds. I have dried what I can see and taken battery out and dried there also. It now won't switch on. I press the power button and it lights up for a second then back off. If I plug the power adapter in the light on the power adapter is on and the battery light on the palm led comes on for approximately 3 seconds then back off. Any ideas as this is my work computer and has a lot of my work on it
Thanks in advance!

Did you dry the inside of the laptop? If liquid got inside the laptop, then it may take several days to completely dry out, turning it on before it's completely dry can fry something. If it's already fried, your data will possibly be OK, and you'd just have to take out the hdd, and connect it to another computer to get the data off it.

The you tube link just mainly relates to static buildup.
I have dried as much as I can see, taken the battery out dried there and also the bottom cover revealing the HD and dabbed there. Still same
Currently is sitting upside on a radiator with a towel between it and the radiator

Update: I've opened her up and had a go at cleaning with alcohol. On removing parts I had a look under the heat sink and it appears the liquid had got in around the processor. I'm not an expert but it looks messy with a lot of dry grey material (I assume is heat paste) but if liquid had got in there whilst switched on what would the consequences be?

If there is no heat sync then the cpu will burn up and over heat and while you have that heat sync off buy some thermal paste and put JUST A DAB on the cpu
