Dell inspiron problem

My computer has crashed and after diognostic says ERROR CODE : WHD16-09W my mate rcons the hard dive has gone bit of a pain a not backed bup , please help and ho can i retreive the data.

If the HDD has indeed failed and you never made a backup image, you are probably out of luck. There are services that have ways of moving the platter(s) to a different drive and recovering your data, but those services are quite expensive.
try unplugging the drive from the system and letting it sit for a few minutes. Sometimes reconnecting it will then let it run again for awhile.

There's also the 'freezer trick'. I've never done it, but if all else fails you could try it.
