Dell Laptop decision

Hi, all
I'm looking at a Dell either i5 or i7 with the following specs. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I do want to play Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, and some older games. I also want to watch videos on Netflix, Amazon. I'm trying to decide on the resolution between 1920x1080 or 1366x768($150 less). I been seeing positive and negative for both.

Also, I've heard horror stories about Dell support. Is two years Basic support good or not even worth the money?

Any thoughts\suggestions would be appreciated.

dell support is a guessing game. sometimes real good, sometimes real bad. their overall support rating is on the low side, however, they sell many more laptops than all but HP. HP in 2010 shipped over 16 million laptops. there is going to be alot of complaints with those kind of numbers. dell is rated a little higher than HP.

the best being asus, lenovo, sony, and sometimes toshiba, but you will hear complaints about them also

on buying extended warranties: depends on how much you spend and your personal risk assessment. extended warranties have saved me a bunch of money over the years, everything from washing machines to computers. if youre gonna spend $1000 on a laptop, i say heck yeah. if $300 , probably not

youll get many different opinions on extended warranties

i dont need the 1080, and both are HD. some games are better at the higher res
