Hi,

My Dell Latitude d400 power supply cord was broken, I tried to resolder the DC jack, but after that when i plugged it in the laptop DC jack the laptop is not powering up.

I bought new Power Adapter of same model as the previous one and when I plugged it in, the laptop is still not powering on, there are no LCD lights comming up when i press the power button, have tried 3-4 times.

Any suggestions what might be the issue?

Why did you re-solder the jack in the first place?

With little information to go on, my guess is that you may have botched the soldering job. Don't assume that the new adapter works. Check the voltage coming out of the adapter with a voltmeter. If you have power there, then it may be stopping at the jack. Disassemble the laptop and check for power past the jack using the voltmeter.

Thanks Ibleet for your reply.

Apologies for asking some naive questions here, from where can I download the Dell d400 Disassembly guide/manual to open my laptop?

Also could it be the possibility that some fuse on the motherboard is blown?

i have not got a voltmeter so will buy one today and check voltage outputs on the laptop.
