Hi there!

I bought two pieces of Samsung 8GB 2Rx8 PC3-12800S-11-11-F3 RAM to upgrade the 2 pieces of 2GB 1Rx8 PC3L-12800S-11-11-B2 in my laptop. However, when I put the new RAM in, the laptop didn't boot up. I put the old RAM (the 2x2 GB pieces) and it runs fine. I also tried to swap in only 1 piece of each of the 8GB sticks, but neither worked.

When I check the Dell memory/laptop compatibility page (http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/sln152134/dell-latitude-memory-compatibility-guide?lang...), it says that DDR3, not DDR3L, should work. Though, this is despite the 2x2GB DDR3L working.

This is frustrating because the laptop has DDR3L but the Dell website shows that only DDR3 should work...what the heck Dell?? Can anyone assist with this? I thought I was tech savvy enough, but this one is confusing as all heck and I don't want to misorder anything else...haaaaaalp! And thanks :)

ugh...I had to update all the drivers...the chipset and everything. I re-flashed the BIOS with the newest BIOS, which was the BIOS I had installed, but said why not just in case there was something funky.

So...I have brand new 16GB of 1600 MHz Crucial memory in my laptop! Woohoo! Runs so fast now!
