dell latitude E6530 with docking station

I have a Dell Latitude E6530 with docking station. I have a separate monitor I would like to use. How do I get it to recognize the monitor so I don't have to leave the laptop open?

With the external monitor attached, Hold down the Windows Key + P, which will open the options for using a second monitor (or Projector). Choose the option that works best for you.

With the Docking station attached, you *may* need to load additional drivers for the docking hardware.

Once the secondary screen is functioning properly, you'll want to change your power settings so you can close the laptop and the computer will stay running...
Right Click Battery icon
click Power Options
click Change When Computer Sleeps
click Change Advanced Power Settings
look for and expand Power Buttons and Lid
expand Lid Close Action
choose Plugged in: Do Nothing

Wallah! Enjoy your docked laptop with the lid closed!
