Dell monitor stuck in power save mode using laptop

I have a Toshiba laptop with a second monitor(Dell) connected to the hdmi port via a vga to hdmi connecter. Recently monitor is stuck in power save mode. I've tried other devices in hdmi port and they are fine. Help please?

Hi again, I should of mentioned it had been working fine until recently when it suddenly went into power save mode.
