I own a laptop (XPS 15) that is only a few years old. I have recently downloaded and installed a game that shouldn't be a problem for the computer.

However, I am having issues. When the game is played for anywhere between 30 seconds to 10 minutes the computer freezes and I am unable to do anything. A loud, low buzzing noise occurs while frozen and I have to manually shut down each time. The loud buzzing changes pitch randomly. The computer never recovers.

I have decided it is a hardware issue, seeing as that I wiped everything and got Windows 7 Ultimate. I also reinstalled all the game files, in hopes that it was a corrupted file. None of these solutions resolved the issue.

I notice the computer fan gets very hot when the computer runs larger programs.

Any ideas would be appreciated

I had the same problem with the same computer, and fortunately it was under warranty still, so I got the Dell guy to come and replace my motherboard. It seems that either my motherboard or graphics (integrated with laptop motherboard) was damaged, likely due to heat.

I'm not going to buy Dell again.
