Dell XPS L321X laptop will not turn on...

My co worker brought me a laptop that she claimed doesn't turn on. She had 3/4 of the battery left and it turned off. I tried plugging the charger into the port and the LED light shuts off on the charger right away. The laptop isn't new , so maybe it overheated and killed the computer?

Have you tried removing the battery and then checking with the charger? Or at least reseating the battery? Is there another of the same model available to test the battery in?
