Dell xps17 to Vizio 260VA input

CONNECTIVITY. There's no RGB out port on the Dell. How do I play DVDs on the Vizio? I have tried Mini OmniPort to HDMI and HDMI to HDMI and neither seem to work.

If HDMI doesn't work, there is a real problem. Is the monitor being detected?
