Hello,
have an old laptop which is a dell vista is approx three to four years old. it finally quit working on me. it stop chasrging and it won't even come on; i have pictures loaded on there which i wouold like to get back to put onto this new dell windows 7 computer. can you please tell me how ro do that? thank you karen marburger

If your laptop failure is not due to a hard disk failure, you can take the hard disk out and put it in an usb hard disk external enclosure. This is a good idea because:

1. you can recover the files you need
2. You get extra storage
3. You can reuse the enclosure in the future

I suggest getting an enclosure from Vantec, like a Nexstar 3 superspeed. You get usb 3 fast speed if you have a usb 3 port on your computer, but even with the slower usb 2 speed if you don't have a usb 3 port, this enclosure works well and I have not had a vantec enclosure die on me yet.
