DIrect TV Genie system

I have a DTV RCA HD DVR system I bro Got into Canada 3.5 years ago. I want to upgrade to Genie but they will only do an onsite install (not an option) I see the Genie systems on eBay. Can I just buy one, swap my activation card and hook it up? Will it work?

Hello. Direct TV Genie and your DTV system are incompatible. You don't have an activation card in a CA DTV DVR at all?

DirectTV needs a proprietary decoder system, and only DirectTV should install it.
