I updated to DX 9.0b temporarily when I first bought UBI Software's XIII, at which time I noticed screen freezes and lockups in ALL my games running the Unreal Tech Engine (Unreal II, UT2003, XIII, Clancy's Rainbow 6-3). I reset my machine to DX 8.1 and all of the problems went away. I'm left wondering which of my components are not DX 9.x compatible. Is there a way to find out?
Please Note, My machine is in need of updating, I'm currently running a P3 1GHz on a Tyan Trinity 400-VIA Apollo Pro 133A, 512 PC133, I did update all of my hardware to the most current drivers recently, Nvidia 56.64 - GeForce2 Mx400 64Mb, Creative SB Live! 5.1 5.12.2.252 (I suspect this device could be the culprit, just a hunch, however there is nothing I could find on the Creative site to clue me in to any hardware problems the Live! cards may have with DX9.) VIA 4in1 4.51 for VIA Apollo Pro 133.
