I want to move my single LNB DirecTV dish from
DTV's 101w satellite to Dish's 110w bird.

My local settings are -

Sat Name Sat Lng Az(t) Az(m) El Skew
DirecTV 1 101.0W 220.7 226.3 51.8 35.9
EchoStar 8 110.0W 232.4 238.0 45.2 45.4

In plain language for a satellite dummy ;) do I move my dish
east or west, up or down?

I suppose you've gone here:
http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/products/installation/azimuth/index.shtml

You'll move your dish to the right about 2 inches measured at the
circumference of the dish. The tilt is another story but I believe you
should try for the side to side for a good signal on 110 and then do the
tilt for 119.

Using the above measurements the dish is at current elevation of 51.8
and has to be moved to 45.2. Should the dish be tilted up or down to
reduce the elevation?

Also, to move the azimuth from 226.3 to 238.0, should the dish be
moved east or west, and how many degrees? TIA!

1. The dish will go down.

2.Move clockwise looking down from the top. Left and Right can be very
confusing terms but would work good for Abbot and Costello. (are you in back
looking to the front? front looking back? on one side or the other?)

I forgot to mention how many degrees to move it but I still can't believe
you wouldn't rather do it yourself.
Well, ok, I'll do it. 238 minus 226.3 equals 11.7 degrees. Now I'm going to
make you guess which of those three numbers is the one to use.

Which is west.

Then why are you bringing up left or right when he asked east or west?

Does west change depending on which way you're facing? <g>

Have you ever seen one of these for BellExpressVu?

It's kinda like pulling teeth to find anything on the bell canada site.

You can use this if you know your Lat & Long.
ExpressVU satellites at -91 & -82 degrees. -91 is the main bird.

Remember to enter your location in decimal degrees and not degrees, mins
and seconds.
