Hello

For a while now, whenever I move the laptop lid, even ever so slightly. The display goes blank. The only way I can get it back on is to power down the machine.

I assumed this was failing hardware and decided to live with it.

Yesterday I had to boot to safe mode for a some other reason. But in doing so noticed that the display remained lit when moving the lid.

This led me to do a fresh reinstall of windows 7.

Having reinstalled Windows 7 with no additional programmes. The problem remains.

Is there any setting I can use to disable whatever is switching off the display?

To clarify in safe mode I can freely move the lid and the display remains, but on a fresh windows reinstall. The display goes blank and only returns with a forced power down.

Thanks for reading.

cracked wire to your display of your laptop, very common, and easy to fix in most cases. what make/model laptop
Last one that did that to me, I bough the 7$ on eBay and installed it in 15 mins.

I totally missed that part, yes your right it would be unaffected by safe mode or even being in bios for that matter

Thanks, sorry so you're saying it will be a cracked wire?

no I am saying if it was a cracked wire, it would act the same way in window, in safe mode or bios screen
so I am saying your right it most likely is NOT a cracked wire.

Ok, thanks anyway.
