Do you need a subscription to use Now TV?

I only really want now TV for the on demand channels but I'm not sure if you need to buy a sky movies or entertainment pack to use the free apps. Do you?

I don't believe any of it is free. It's on demand if you pay for the packages. TV shows are part of the Entertainment package and movies are part of the Movies package. They are all "on demand" in the sense that you can watch them whenever you want—after you pay for the package, and only during the duration of your purchase. Unless I am misinterpreting what I'm reading on their home page?
