On a 1300-1500$ budget for a gaming laptop is the Alienware m17x_R2 still a good choice?
First gen Processor, not sure how much power it needs (get like an i7-720 or i7-84x) with around 1300 a bit better with 1500.
5870 CROSSFIRE
1900x1200 RGB Screen
Blu-ray

Buying it from dell outlet. I want a laptop tho, not a entire PC. Is this a good choice or is there a better alternative within that price range!

Might be a while before I get it anyways, but I'm just curious... seems like a good deal but I've been told no sometimes but I haven't really been able to go with their solutions for example their suggestion puts me outside my price range, or maybe I just misunderstood them.

That machine is very overpriced, You would be much better off buying from another vendor, better still, build your own.
