My notebook is on balanced power already, and I manually set these:

- No sound
- Blue Tooth disconnected
- Low level brightness

Do also need to set long battery life on taskbar setting or can I leave it on high performance, have you guys noticed if it makes a difference or not?

- Yes it does, because it would override your balanced power plan and put your laptop in battery saving mode with much lower performance, it only runs when laptop is unplugged, but would not alter or switch power plans settings (like sleep or screen shut off timers)
- For more extreme power saving tips:Ultimate Tips to Max Out Microsoft Surface Battery Life >> https://surfacetip.com/ultimate-tips-max-surface-pro-4-battery-life/#2 Includes a registry tweak to get access to custom plan and advanced CPU clock settings.

- In addition to that you could have your battery saver activated automatically when running on battery even if your battery is not much depleted but setting dedicated slider to activate at higher battery charge, you can always deactivate it when you need more performance : How to Use and Configure Windows 10’s “Battery Saver” Mode >>https://www.howtogeek.com/241179/how-to-use-and-configure-windows-10s-battery-saver-mode/
- I use darkest lighting levels and night light mode while playing music on my surface pro.
