download earth on my w7 computer

I have tried to download and run Google Earth to my W7 computer several times and it will not install. No icon posted to desktop or error message.

Are there any error messages reported during installation?
Do you have the folder "C:\Program Files\Google\Google Earth\client" installed?

No folder like this. I have tried to load Google Earth at least 4 times and never gets to the run stage or reports an error. I am beginning to think this software is not compatible with my W7 system. A year or so ago, I had it running on this machine. Been using it longer than I can remember and now it won't load.

Google Earth has a relatively simple GoogleEarthSetup.exe installer, downloaded from http/www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html. How far in the installation process you managed to progress?
