Downloading and installing apps

What happens after I download an app, or more specifically a game? I had the impression that I'd be able to play it, yet it doesn't seem to have downloaded. Can someone explain how to get games on here?

No, actually I just downloaded a game from this very website. I'm not tech-savvy so I'm stumped.
