Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 Types ‘Scratch That’ Instead of Erasing Last Spoken Phrase

A quick solution to this problem is that you can make sure that you are not speaking up the commands into the microphone continuously while dictating the texts. Since by default Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 requires a delay of half a second between the running text and the commands that you speak, if you are dictating something to the program and speaking the commands in the flow along with the dictation, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 would accept it as a dedicated phrase and will type it.

If you are using proper way of dictation, and giving the commands to Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 with proper delays, the chances are that the default settings that the program uses are misconfigured due to any reason. By default Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 works in the Normal Mode where it can easily differentiate between the commands and the running text that are spoken into the microphone. On the other hand, if the mode is changed to Dictation, it simply transcribes every word that it listens.

In your case, if you are sure that you are using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 correctly and are giving appropriate delays while differentiating between the texts and the commands, you are then required to verify if your instance of the program is not set to Dictation Mode.
By following the instructions given in this tutorial, you can easily change the mode of your instance of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 from Dictation to Normal.

Here’s what you need to do:

■Initialize Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 by double-clicking its icon.

■Make sure that the user profile using which you are facing the problems is properly loaded and is ready to use.

■Keeping the microphone turned off, go to the Modes menu that is available on the interface of the program.

■From the displayed list of options, choose Normal Mode.

■Once done, you can turn the microphone on and can start using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 normally. You can try speaking Scratch That to see if the last spoken phrase is getting erased.

■If the problem still persists, close the user profile, reload it, and then try again.

■You can follow the steps given in this section and go back to the Dictation Mode if you do not want Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.0 to accept your dictations as the commands.
