dvarchive not fetching 97124 Dish, Portland

I'm troublshooting a network connection bewteen my replaytv and production.replaytv.net and noticed
that my copy of dvarchive is unable to get program listings from the same provider as my replay's are set to.

I'm wondering if the dvarchive problem and the replaytv problem are related as I think there both trying
to do the same thing.

Can someone else out there set the zipcode on their dvarchive to '97124' and the Programming provider to "Dish, Portland"?
Do you get a successful program guide upload?

Just trying to preserve my sanity....

I could get a guide with those settings (the local channels are on
2,6,8,10,12,32,49). You might try the possible fixes I posted
elsewhere in this group (try a neighboring ZIP, delete "DVA TV.xml"
and start over).

I was just successful in getting dvarchive to work..

As well as getting my 5508 to update via broadband (A first in 3 weeks).

As an experiment my ISP complety bypassed their proxyserver.

They are now working to further isolate what is causing the problem but we seem
to be making progress...

Cool... Well on the way to working as intended.

Ok, that sounds like something I've seen before... When I set up my 5040
to receive IVS I had to set up the proxy server to port forward a
specific port. (The port I specified for IVS) I'd guess they need to
set up forwarding for the port(s) that DVA and your replay use

Either that or dump the proxy server (At least as far as you are
concerned) and trust you to set up your own firewalls. I'd rather do it
that way myself, but then I was a paid professional paranoid, And I
still know the paranoid stuff (And it's not paranoia when those criminal
hackers are, in fact, really out to get you, as they are, all of us)

Now that the ISP knows where to troubleshoot I'm sure they will
reconfigure and make it work.

I perfectly understand the motivation for the ISP to have the
proxyserver in place. We will work together and come up with
a workable setup.

And I got my second networkable DVR (5516) a few months ahead of
schedule <grin>

The only port you need to forward for IVS is the one you specified in
the Replay setup menu (often 29000). It will be forwarded to the
Replay (which explains how a static {or static DHCP} LAN IP is
desirable).

DVA is not involved,

A router works better and is more reliable than software IVS.

which I quote here. DVA does not support Internet Video Sharing, and
so does not use any such port.

Oh, Guess I did, I was refering to the ports used to download the
TV-Listings, at that point,,,, Not IVS.

The comment was when I set up IVS I had to do the port forward bit
(Using the port I selected for IVS),

It is possible that the ISP in question has blocked the port used for tv
listings and needs to forward that one (Slight re-write here to make it
clearer what I'm trying to say)

According to the Replay manual, the Replay needs ports 53 (DNS), 123
(NTP), and 80 (HTTP). These ports are used for OUTGOING (client)
connections only, and are NOT dependant on port frowarding by your
router.

Port 80 is also used by any web browser. The ISP blocking connections
on that would also prevent web access, unless a HTTP proxy is used
(requiring access through another port). Is this is being done, you
should know about it. Check your browser's settings. If there is no
proxy set up, you know your ISP is NOT blocking port 80. Port 53 is
required also, whenever you enter a URL. Port 123 is also a standard
port, and it is unlikely your ISP is blocking that. Note that they
often do block INCOMING ports. That is irrelevant here.
