DVD/VHS colors as purple and green

Samsung DVD/VHS connected to HDMI to Samsung smart TV and all the picture on dvds are green and purple. What do I need to fix this problem?

Try a different cable, try a different port on the TV, test the DVD player with another connection type and another TV.

On some TVs the component and composite video share the same input and jacks so you have to set this in the TV menu.
