Edge chat delays with older Toshiba Satellite lapto.

I have a "new" (straight out of the box) Toshiba Satellite A505-56980. It was purchase by a friend in 2009. But never used. The laptop meets my needs, with the following exceptions: It is slow to load Facebook. And I often receive "edge chat" delay messages in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. Is this an issue of older soft/hard ware on the machine. Can it be resolved with an update of some kind. I'm using the Windows 7 operating system that came on the machine -- which I like. Thanks.

"edge chat" is from Facebook.

Try removing and blocking all game invitations that are lingering on your profile.

Also, in Facebook, go into the "Settings" and then "Adverts". Deactivate all the ad companies in the links provided in the "Adverts Based on Your Use of Websites or Apps Outside of Facebook".

You should be good after that.
