I have a Toshiba Satellite P745-S4102 and it came with Windows Home Premium 64bit, it worked fine for a while and gradually windows booting became slower and slower.
I tried the Toshiba recovery from the hard drive but ended up with errors and couldn't continue (error 10-fa12-045d) the only option was to shutdown the computer.
-tried installing the 32bit version of windows 7 it worked but after I start installing any drivers or new software like an antivirus or whatever, windows becomes slow and unresponsive sometimes and I have to shut it down with power button.
-installed vista 64x, same results.
-instaled linux (ubuntu 12.10) and it works normally!
-did a memtest86 and it came with no errors.
-did a dban on the hard drive (after 14 hours it finished with "no fatal error" but a message on the bottom of the screen said that my hard drive failed!).
I'm confused and I don't know what's wrong with my laptop.. the last thing I remember is updating the bios on my Home premium version becuase Toshiba recommended the update (now it's version 2.20).
any suggestions on what might be the problem?
