Coincidentally I have just finished reading a review of the R-D1 in
the 8th January copy of Amateur Photographer (UK). It got a rating of
82% and says that the camera has good design, a bright
viewfinder,large LCD and well controlled noise. Against it, it says
there is severe vignetting, unreliable metering, takes a long time to
"wake up" and is expensive. The vignetting and metering took most
criticism.If you are interested you should be able to get a copy of
the article from www.amateurphotographer.com.

Vignetting? Hold on, this thing takes Zeiss 35mm lenses, and the
sensor is *smaller* than 35mm. I wonder where the vignetting comes
from.

Maybe there is no vignetting

But a theory (if there is any vignetting) is that the
Ziess lenses have by far to steep angles to the sensor,
so the sensor do not work all that well near to the corners.

But - that might be a theory trying to explain something
that is false
