External GPU on a Laptop

Hi, recently I noticed that my Dell Inspiron 15-5570 (Radeon 530 2GB Graphics, Core i5-8250U model) is struggling at games, at some point it gets really hot (especially "Extra" settings in Cod: MW3). Then I thought of an idea to find a replacement part for my dedicated GPU (possible upgrade) but no joy. Then I saw a video on YouTube about using an external Graphics Card into a laptop through an eGPU mod, or something similar. I wonder if it would work on my laptop, and also if the mod will work on its built-in display.

1. That will need Thunderbolt 3, do you have that on laptop?
2. Do you want cheaper solution? If you have ethernet, you can unplug wifi card from pcie mini port and use a pcie mini to PCIEx16 adapter and plug in any gpu with the psu.
